Our most popular items with teachers are the project boxes tailored to match locally agreed RE syllabuses. They contain a mixture of selected books, posters and artefacts. Boxes can be assembled on demand or matched to a teacher’s specific needs e.g. LA scheme of work, year group, specific subject matter. Teachers may pre-order project boxes for the whole year or on an ad hoc basis. Each box can be borrowed for between 6 and 12 weeks.
A list of the ready-assembled project boxes at the Centre is downloadable below. There are 'generic' boxes to cover a subject for a year group (e.g. Judaism for Key Stage 1) as well as boxes fitting the Awareness, Mystery and Value scheme of work (e.g. Key Stage 2 Unit 2 How Should We Live and Who Can Inspire Us?). Links to lesson plans for some syllabus units are also available on the website - How Should We Live and Who Can Inspire Us? for example.
The Diocesan vision emphasises creating new communities and initiatives where Christ is central. St Augustine saw Christ’s role in the Trinity as ‘understanding’ - triangulating memory (the Father) and will (the Holy Spirit). The Centre’s first aim is to promote and equip a better understanding of the Christian faith.
Just as Christ is ‘understanding’, He is also humanity. The Resource Centre intends to be more than a physical place with materials of spiritual value - it’s also about people and the Centre can be a network.
Maybe you’d benefit in your role or at your church from professional advice or training from Diocesan staff. Perhaps you have a need, or something to offer, or are looking for ways to ‘put your faith to work’. The Centre may be able to point you in the right direction. Get in touch!
As well as a wide range of plans for sessions from very young to young adult, graphic and illustrated Bibles, and help for children's and youth leaders, and much more - all available to borrow - there is also equipment for hire like a PA with microphones and indoor/outdoor games (click here to browse).
Every month, families who have never set a foot in a church before are enjoying Messy Church. Messy Church is proving effective in sharing God’s good news with families across denominations and church traditions.
For all those NOOMA fans out there – we have added another 2 NOOMAs to our collection!
Why is it that often when we get what we want, we still feel empty? Success isn’t always the answer, is our life all about what we want? Is there another way to live? Maybe in attempting to save someone else from their suffering we find we are the ones being saved.
Most of us have gone through times in our lives that are difficult, some small and hard to understand and some have been big and overwhelming. At times like this we all want answers, why do we suffer, why do bad things happen to good people, and so on. See what Rob Bell has made of it all in this DVD.
